And the death roar continues
Jan 22nd 13.01 /
With 2000’s “Uprising”, Entombed returned to safer ground after a short, critizised trip into a new sound with ”Same Differance” in 1998. Listening to Morning Star, it feels like the guys in the band still know what they’re doing, and they evolve their sound in a more comfortable pace. It’s hard and aggrssive, this time with lots of speed and thrash in it.
LG Petrov is, right from the first track - ”Chief Rebel Angel” - roaring as if that’s what he is - the Chief Rebel Angel, the Morning Star, Lucifer. There are only a few surprises and variations on this record. The last song sticks out with a slow, oriental sounding, guitar riff, that makes me think of Alice in Chain’s ”Dirt”. Another song that sticks out, with a slower tempo and an acoustic guitar part, is ”Bringer of Light”. These where the first songs I noticed, but the rest of the songs have gradually grown, and I can’t see any weak parts. Still, it’s certainly not the kind of record that the average metal head out there can’t live without.
