Millencolin, 59 Times the Pain, No Fun At All, Bombshell Rocks and now The Peepshows… More and more of the Burning Heart bands have on their later releases slowed down the tempo for a different expression. The Hellacopters lead singer Nicke Andersson has said "One of the best Swedish rock albums ever" about this record. It’s not strange that he likes "Refuge for degenerates" because it sounds exactly like The Hellacopters. Their new member Henrik Wind (organ/electric piano) has been writing a lot of the material on the new album, which also means that the organ has got more space in the songs. Miezko Talartzyk from Nasum and Genocide Superstars produced the album. The whole sound on "Refuge for degenerates" makes me think of Hellacopters’ "High Visibility" album. The opening track "In the Dirt" features a guest appearance by Millencolin singer Nikola Sarcevic. Most songs are good but sound very alike. A track that stands out i s the piano-based "Where the roads have no end". This album is ok but there’s something missing. Maybe lack of an own identity…
