A soundtrack to your escape! Nov 15th 11.11 /
When the opening track “F(r)iend” explode out of your speaker you know what it’s all about; heavy melodic metal. “Soundtrack to your escape” is one step back in the sense that In Flames sound heavier than on “Reroute to remain” where every chorus was drowned in to much lawayers of melodic clean vocals, synth elements and drum loops. Soundtrack to your escape still have a lot of potential radio songs but it’s a more aggressive album. Anders Fridén screams out his personal lyrics with strong confidence like on the early albums. The bass is heavy distorted and the guitar work is characterized of heavy, almost thrashy, riffing and good solos. “Evil in a closet” is In Flames own “Nothing else matters” but Fridén has sung a lot better with clean vocals before, here he just sounds hoarse. The choruses are overall very cathcy and will stick in your head. Another solid effort from In Flames.
